Microsuction is generally the main method used by Clear Again unless there is a clinical reason for an alternate method. The Otopront Vac 18 is the only CE marked suction machine on the market specifically designed for use on ears, it involves using a sterile, single-use tip which is inserted into the ear canal to gently remove wax build-up via gentle suction. This procedure can take anything from 10 - 20 minutes depending on each case.
The Project 101 Ear Irrigator gently removes wax build up by utilising a temperature-controlled, pulsatile, cyclone wash. Irrigation is used for wax that is too deep to safely remove via microsuction. This procedure usually takes between 10 – 20 minutes and works best on soft ear wax, you will be asked to use olive oil drops for 3 - 5 days prior to your appointment. Please note that irrigation and 'syringing' are different procedures and syringing is generally not performed anymore due to the lack of control over pressure levels and associated safety risks with that.
Prior to treatment, we will go through a history checklist with you to ensure you have no contraindications (clinical reasons that will affect the ability to safely remove your wax) for treatment which you must fill out to the best of your knowledge. We will also go through a consent form which you will be asked to sign to confirm you are happy to proceed with treatment. Once this is completed, a full ear health check will be completed.
When we arrange your appointment with you, you will be asked to use olive oil drops if you have not started already for at least 3 – 5 days prior to your appointment to ensure your wax is soft, easy and painless to remove. We recommend Earol spray which is available in most pharmacies.

If the health check of your ears determines there is no necessary wax in need of removal, the consultation fee only is £25.
